How it works

From a bare server to a live app.

    Point Pier at your server

    Install it on a plain Linux VPS. One small binary, no cluster to run.

  2. 2

    Pick what to run

    A template like Ghost or WordPress, a Docker image, or a Git repository.

  3. 3

    It lands, live

    Pier deploys it, wires its database, routes your domain and issues the certificate.

Capabilities

Everything a small server needs.

A small, auditable core that grows only when a decision is justified.

  • Zero-downtime deploys

    Pull, health-check, switch traffic, stop the old one. A failed health check rolls back on its own.

  • Git deploys

    Push to a branch and Pier builds it in an isolated, rootless builder, through a GitHub App.

  • Managed databases

    PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and Redis, with generated, encrypted credentials and no public port by default.

  • Domains with automatic TLS

    Point your DNS, Pier checks it, routes it and issues the certificate. Ports stay closed by default.

  • Encrypted backups

    Scheduled dumps, encrypted before upload to any S3-compatible store, restored in one click.

  • Logs and metrics

    Live logs, CPU, RAM, network and disk per container, and alerts when something needs you.

  • Secrets and audit

    Environment variables encrypted at rest and masked in the UI, an audit trail, and TOTP sign-in.

  • Stacks and Compose

    Templates and Compose files become groups of services you deploy and delete together.
